Marbella’s Triple A sanctuary, which is home to more than 500 dogs as well as cats and other animals, says it could see all of its animal residents slaughtered if funds do not arrive soon.
In a plea on Facebook, representative Lily Van Tongeren said: “Triple A might be closing if we do not get help now!
“The first thing anyone can do is go to the website and subscribe as a member for a minimum of only €5 per month.
“Or virtually adopt one of the older or long staying animals for only €15 per month. We will send you an adoption certificate and picture of ‘Your’ own pet.”
“Please share this!” she added.
Donations are believed to have dropped after police raided the charity last year, arresting the head and several employees for alleged cruelty to animals among other charges.
The case is still thought to be ongoing but neither the courts or the authorities are yet to prosecute anyone.
